Question 1: What’s your 140 character bio?
Karl Kapp, professor of Instructional Technology @BloomU, Author of books on learning & technology, a blogger, consultant, speaker & father.
Question 2: Tell us about your TK 2012 session.
My session is about the concept of "gamification" many people have a negative perception of the word but I have a different perspective backed by sound research. In my session I am going to provide a decidedly unacademic look at the academic side of gamification (using game-based elements to enhance learning and motivation).
I am going to describe the findings from the research, give examples of gamification and games-based thinking for learning and then provide a list of practical tips a learning professional can implement into their learning program quickly and relatively easily. My session promises to be engaging and exciting showing you how to use the existing research literature in your own design and delivery of online learning. My presentation ends with a practical case study outlining how the research tips, techniques and practices can be applied in a real-life online learning situation.
Question 3: What’s your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
My favorite thing to do in Vegas is to walk the strip and go to all the interesting attractions like the lions at MGM, the animatronics show at Casears and the fountains at the Bellagio, eat lunch in New York New York and catch the Blue Man Group doing their stuff!
